The Domaine de la Salamandre is located 35 minutes away from Périgueux in Dordogne, in a charming village named Auriac-du-Périgord. Our ecology-oriented estate fully respects our nature, environment and people. We aim to reach a total independence towards water, energy and waste recycling.
We all share the idea that we need to pass on to the future generations values that are not carried by the consumer society and that benefits a natural living area.
We would be extremely pleased to welcome you here, share with you our work and ideas and hopefully help you to spend a relaxing and interesting stay. The Périgord is a region that deserves to be explored!

ECOLOGY AND ACTIVITIES INSIDE THE DOMAINE
Whether you like being active, walk around, enjoy nature or are simply looking for a real parenthesis, you are more than welcomed.
We would also be pleased to have you discover our ecology-oriented way of living and bring back home some delicious products!
Recreational activities
Table tennis, trampoline, badminton, bowling green, board games. Everything is here to spend some pleasant time.
Nature walks
The domaine's 40 hectares will invite you to various walks in the forest, fields and trails.
Educational farm
Find out more about market gardening, agroforestry, cereal farming or animal husbandry. Become experts while respecting nature!
Organic products
Let's get back to the real taste of food without any chemicals, and bring nature back home! We sell directly at the domaine part of what we produce.
Workshops
Sharing our concepts and discuss about ecological values is key to us. We regularly organise workshops about health and culture.
Warning, most workshops will be held in French.
AN ECOVILLAGE IN THE MAKING
The Domaine of the Salamandre is in full expansion and we are currently developing an ecovillage.
Le Domaine de la Salamandre wishes to give a more suitable place to human in harmony with his environment. In this purpose, the ecovillage will welcome about 10 households close to nature, where the inhabitants will share the same values of respect and support.
This village will aim to be completely self-sufficient in energy, food, water and waste recycle. The ecovillage homes will be passive houses and environmental-friendly.

Used energies will be produced on site.

Rainwater will be collected, filtered and stored.

Wastes will be reduced at their minimum.
Households will be comfortable and welcome persons with reduced mobility.

WHAT TO SEE AROUND
Located in the Périgord noir, the Domaine of the Salamandre is closed to multiple and highly recommended touristic places. Here are some first options but do not hesitate to reach out to local tourist offices or to call us for more informations!
The iconic Lascaux caves or located just 20 minutes away from the Domaine. These uniques UNESCO protected caves will have you live a wonderful experience!
In July and August, enjoy the market of Auriac-du-Périgord every Thursday evening, only few minutes away from the Domaine.
The Vezere is a river crossing the Périgord. Going down the river in a canoe is both fun and interesting to see beautiful landscapes.
7 minutes away from the Domaine, you will find different amusement parks, including tree climbing at the "Appel de la Foret" for example.
The village of Saint-Amand-de-Coly is one of the prettiest villages in France. Whether you prefer to walk around or visit its famous abbey, you should not miss this stop!
The one kilometer-long visit of the Roque St-Christophe, at 60 meters high is a beautiful experience.
